OVER the years, many factories in Petaling Jaya have moved out and landowners have sought Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) permission to rezone the land for commercial use.
To utilise the vacant land in sections 19, 51 and 51A, MBPJ plans to draft a “special area plan”.
“Studies are being done by MBPJ and consultants were hired to come up with a master plan,” said Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran in a press conference at his office in Petaling Jaya.
MBPJ will be holding focus group discussions to seek stakeholders’ input on the proposed special area plan.
The session for Section 19 will be held today, while the focus group meeting for Section 51 will be conducted tomorrow and the one for Section 51A is on Thursday.
The sessions will be at MBPJ Dewan Sivik from 8.30am to 5pm.
Rajiv said the city council was attempting to be more inclusive by producing the area plan only after getting public feedback.
“Once the plan is drawn, it will be displayed for the public to view for four weeks.”
He urged stakeholders, especially landowners and representatives of neighbouring businesses in the vicinity to attend the sessions and provide feedback. — By KHIRTHNADHEVI KUMAR
