Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai is optimistic that SibuJaya in Sarawak will continue to expand and prosper.
Speaking at the official opening of Carnival SibuJaya, he said the master plan conceived by the Premier of Sarawak would ensure an orderly development.
“From what I have seen, Amcorp SibuJaya, the developer of this township, has been very meticulous in carrying out our Premier’s vision for SibuJaya.
“They have also worked very closely with all relevant parties to ensure the continuous growth of this award-winning township,” he said.
Other than the long list of public facilities available in SibuJaya, such as the recently opened Azman Hashim Community Sports Centre, a health clinic, fire station, police station and public library as well as proper roads, schools and various government agencies, Sempurai assured residents that SRDC would be establishing its base there.
“As announced by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, SRDC will be building its office in SibuJaya itself,” he said.
A new road that will connect SibuJaya to Jalan Kong Yit Khim will also open up an alternative passage to the township.
“All these developments will make SibuJaya even more accessible,” said Sempurai.
He thanked all those involved in organising Carnival SibuJaya 2022.
“There will be lots of fun, with a water fiesta, battle of the bands, beauty pageant, tribal food festival, motocross championship and a mega concert,” he said, adding that such events would give local businesses and residents a chance to earn some extra income.
The carnival which has drawn huge crowds nightly, will run until Sept 18.
