EMPLOYEES of Sun Life Malaysia, a life insurance and family takaful provider, planted 350 landscape and fruit trees at Sungai Chua Recreational Park in Kajang, Selangor, to kick off its #PlantTreePlantHope initiative.
Sun Life Malaysia deputy CEO Ho Teck Seng said: “We are committed to promoting a more sustainable world.
“Our purpose of helping clients gain lifetime financial security and live healthier lives cannot be achieved without a low-carbon environment in the future.
“We are delighted to partner with Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) and Yayasan Hijau Malaysia to create more green spaces for urban communities.”
MPKj president Najmuddin Jemain launched the recent tree-planting event.
Also present were Yayasan Hijau Malaysia CEO Amin Abdullah as well as 70 Sun Life Malaysia employees.
The three-year initiative also supports the country’s “Greening Malaysia Programme” which targets to plant 100 million trees by 2025.
The second instalment of Sun Life Malaysia’s 2022 tree-planting initiative will be held this month.
A total of 150 mangrove trees will be planted at Sijangkang Mangrove Recreational Park in Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor, to protect the coastline from erosion and floods.
