FANS of Jimmy Choo’s designs can look forward to a special Mid-Autumn Festival as the legendary shoe designer has lent his style to making unique mooncake boxes.

Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur collaborated with Choo to come up with custom gift boxes in celebration of the annual festival.

“The Mid-Autumn full moon represents completeness and good luck in Chinese culture.

“The Four Seasons mooncake gift boxes are hoped to reflect feelings of happiness, good fortune and abundance,” said Choo at the unveiling of the boxes.

He said the round-shaped items symbolised the full moon as well as round tables where families and friends would gather round, while the bright pink colour was meant to evoke joy.

“Many people may take this time of the year to finally reunite with their loved ones and this would make a great gift,” Choo said.

He hopes to bring a more youthful and energetic feel with the design and colour scheme.

Each large box has four smaller ones containing the mooncakes. Each of the smaller boxes are embossed with one of Choo’s iconic designs, which are also his favourites throughout his career.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts regional marketing director Nelson Hilton said only 1,000 of the mooncake gift boxes would be available.

“We are honoured to be the first such collaboration with Jimmy Choo to produce these special boxes,” he said.

Several new mooncake flavours will also be introduced, including the snowskin Valrhona chocolate with Himalayan salt and egg yolk and White Lotus Paste with seaweed and macadamia nuts.

The Trigona Rum Ki Tiki is crafted in collaboration with Bar Trigona and is inspired by one of its newly introduced cocktails.

Also on the menu are baked mooncakes with fillings such as Pu Er Tea paste with tangerine skin and white lotus seed paste; Pandan Paste with single yolk and White Lotus Seed Paste.

The mooncake gift boxes are priced between RM488 and RM588 and will be open for orders starting July 1.
