MBSJ to instal signage disallowing U-turns

StarMetro’s report on June 9.

Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will instal “No U-turn” signage at Persiaran Lestari Perdana 5 in Bandar Putra Permai to ensure smoother traffic flow.

This came after a report by StarMetro on June 9 that Taman Lestari Perdana 8 residents were dicing with danger during rush hour when they enter or exit their neighbourhood in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

The main road of Persiaran Lestari Perdana 5, which links Puncak Jalil and Taman Equine, is choked with traffic and motorists use the break in the road divider to make U-turns.

The situation worsens when parents drop off and pick up their children across the road at SJKC Bukit Serdang.

In a statement, MBSJ said the break in the road divider was technically a junction to enter Jalan LP 8/1, Taman Lestari Perdana, which was built to enable residents to enter and exit the neighbourhood.

“MBSJ had also built speed bumps on the road in both directions of Persiaran Lestari Perdana 5 to compel motorists to slow down, and provide a route for schoolchildren to cross the road,” the city council said.

The statement added that congestion in the area was due to indiscriminate parking by school bus operators and parents when picking up pupils.

It said offences like double parking in front of the school resulted in obstruction of part of Persiaran Lestari Perdana 5, which interferes with traffic flow.

It added that motorists were making illegal U-turns at the entrance to Jalan LP 8/1, Taman Lestari Perdana 8.

“To address this issue, MBSJ will instal a ‘No U-turn’ sign at Persiaran Lestari Perdana 5 towards the Taman Lestari Perdana 8 housing area before June 19,” said the statement.
