KUALA LUMPUR: U Mobile Sdn Bhd has ramped up its enterprise digitalisation efforts with the launch of its Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP) Hub, designed to help businesses turn 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and artificial intelligence (AI) innovations into market-ready solutions.
U Mobile chief executive officer or CEO Wong Heang Tuck said: “As Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, we are building the digital infrastructure and foundation to power the country’s next phase of growth.
“Through the EIP Hub, we want to create an environment where organisations can confidently explore new technologies, develop practical solutions and scale innovations that create measurable business outcomes via our state-of-the-art 5G-A infrastructure.”
In a statement, the network provider described the platform as an ecosystem that brings together enterprises, technology partners, academia, advisors and public-sector stakeholders to develop, test and demonstrate 5G-A, AI and other emerging technologies before they are able to confidently scale them.
According to the company, the platform will enable faster adoption, minimise implementation risks and deliver greater business value.
Yesterday, U Mobile launched the EIP Hub, reinforcing its “Powering Possibilities” mission to empower businesses on their road to achieving digital transformation through harnessing 5G-A and emerging technologies.
The launch marked the next milestone for the EIP Hub, following the appointment of its advisory panel in July and the growth of its ecosystem of 15 partners spanning technology, enablement, academia and anchor organisations.
At the platform’s official debut, U Mobile demonstrated four EIP Hub-developed solutions, showcasing how 5G-A and AI can be applied to solve real-world enterprise challenges and drive measurable business outcomes.
The applications showcase included 5G and AI-driven visual intelligence for real-time operational monitoring, digital twin with 5G, Internet of things (IoT) and AI for predictive asset management, 5G drone patrolling and data capture for autonomous inspection and surveillance, and 5G-enabled humanoid robotic autonomous intelligence to automate operations and enhance productivity.
The EIP Hub also featured industry-specific solutions from partner organisations to illustrate how 5G-A and AI can be applied across different sectors.
Among the solutions exhibited was the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) AgriNXT, an AI-powered platform that optimises plantation operations and asset utilisation to improve estate management.
Also presented was US semiconductor company Qualcomm’s AI-enabled smart retail solution, which provides real-time insights into customer behaviour and store operations to enhance business performance.
Huawei also demonstrated its AI-powered smart ward solution, integrating 5G, fixed wireless access and IoT connectivity for real-time patient monitoring and intelligent analytics, improving clinical efficiency, patient care and hospital connectivity. In attendance was Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil who officiated the launch.
Fahmi noted Malaysia has made tremendous progress in strengthening the digital foundations that will support its future economy in his address at the launch.
He said the government, through the Communications Ministry and MCMC, continues to expand high-quality connectivity, strengthen digital infrastructure and foster an environment conducive to investment, innovation and enterprise growth.
“Today, technologies such as advanced AI, cloud computing, IoT, automation and quantum computing are transforming industries worldwide.
“From manufacturing and healthcare to agriculture, logistics, financial services, retail, energy and the public sector, these innovations have the potential to reshape how businesses and governments operate.
“But technology alone does not drive transformation,” he said.
Fahmi pointed out that businesses need the confidence, expertise and ecosystem to adopt advanced technologies, validate new ideas and deploy innovative solutions at scale and at the right cost.
“The EIP Hub’s collaborative ecosystem will accelerate AI and digital adoption, helping businesses improve productivity, strengthen competitiveness and drive economic growth.
“This is exactly the type of public-private collaboration that Malaysia needs as we continue to build a stronger digital economy,” he added.
In his welcoming remarks, Wong assured that U Mobile’s “Powering Possibilities” commitment aligned closely with Malaysia’s ambition to become a leading digital nation.
“As digital adoption accelerates across every sector, collaboration between government, industry, academia and technology partners will become even more important, and ultimately create meaningful progress for the nation,” Wong said.
Moving forward, U Mobile noted the EIP Hub would continue expanding its ecosystem through strategic partnerships, proof-of-concepts, solution validation and pilot programmes.
It said the hub would provide enterprises and partners with a platform to develop and validate practical 5G-A and AI applications across key industries, powered by ULTRA5G and U Mobile’s in-building coverage.
