Developer gives food packs to 8,000 workers at construction sites

The ongoing restrictions across the Klang Valley and other parts of Malaysia prompted SP Setia to ramp up its humanitarian efforts with Setia Food Aid 2.0.

It is a continuation of the company’s initiative from 2020 to support foreign workers affected by the lockdown.

“While we are doing what we can with vaccination centres (PPV) to help the nation achieve herd immunity and accelerate the economy’s recovery, we are equally concerned about the challenges faced by foreign workers,” said SP Setia senior executive vice-president Datuk Seri Koe Peng Kang.

“So we decided to continue the Setia Food Aid initiative to sustain them during these trying times.”

The company distributed dry rations such as rice, instant noodles, canned food, flour, salt, sugar and cooking oil to 8,000 workers at more than 20 project sites in Penang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Johor.

“We also distributed Vitamin C to help boost their immune system,” said Koe.

During the first round, 6,000 workers from SP Setia’s project sites received the aid.

SP Setia had pledged RM1mil to the government-linked companies and government-linked investment companies’ Disaster Response Network collective contribution.

Medical equipment and supplies were also donated to hospitals and frontliners while RM1.2mil was allocated for the School Hygiene Education Programme, organised by SP Setia Foundation.

It also introduced an employee assistance programme in partnership with Naluri, a digital health app with a hotline that allows them to reach out to psychologists, therapists, trainers and other health professionals for support.

SP Setia facilitated vaccinations at Setia City Convention Centre 1 & 2 in Setia Alam, Setia Eco Templer Clubhouse in Rawang and Setia EcoHill Club 360 in Semenyih (all in Selangor) besides Setia SPICE Convention Centre and Setia SPICE Arena, both in Penang.
