THE Federation Territories Ministry, with collaboration with Putrajaya Corporation (PjC), will build a total of 12,253 units of affordable housing under the Residensi Prihatin initiative.
"The ministry introduced Residensi Prihatin to allow the B40 group to be able to own a comfortable home in safe surroundings," FT Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said on Monday (Feb 22).
"It is part of the ministry's efforts to eradicate poverty and improve the living standards of residents.
"To ensure the target group benefits from the programme, priority will be given to applicants who have yet to own a housing unit, as well as civil servants and young house buyers," he added.
Currently in the planning phase, the initiative will involve 10 development projects in Presint 5,7, 11,16 and 19 here and is expected to be completed in 2025.
Of the total units, some 1,592 from the Residensi Prihatin Kenanga and Melur projects will be developed by Protasco Development Sdn Bhd.
Each 750sq ft unit will be sold at RM200,000, which is below the market price.
The development would include facilities like a surau, multipurpose mall, kindergarten, nursery, trading spaces, badminton courts, children's playground and sheltered parking lots.
Those born, living and working in the Federal Territories may apply at https://residensiprihatin.kwp.gov.my.
Criteria for applicants include a monthly income below RM5,000; priority will be given to young married couples.
