THE Klang Municipal Council (MPK) will close public and wholesale markets on selected dates in December to clean and sanitise the premises.

Its president Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said the closure was scheduled on a fortnightly basis so thorough sanitisation could be carried out.

“It is also to reduce people’s movement and as a preventive measure to limit the spread of Covid-19, ” he said after chairing the council’s full board meeting.

Ahmad Fadzli added that the temporary closure for sanitisation had been carried out on a scheduled basis since March and that traders were notified ahead of the closure.

Closure of the affected markets are as follows:

* Kompleks Pasar Besar Jalan Meru and Kedai PKNS Jalan Pasar Baru on Dec 14 and 28 (Mondays);

* Pasar Pelabuhan Klang on Dec 1,15 and 29 (Tuesdays);

* Pasar Pandamaran on Dec 2,16 and 30 (Wednesdays);

* Pasar Kapar on Dec 3,17 and 31 (Thursdays).

All markets would also be closed on Dec 11 in conjunction with the Sultan of Selangor’s birthday.
