Budget 2021: Plans for UTC in Lembah Pantai next year

PLANS are underway for an Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) in Lembah Pantai next year, says the Finance Ministry.

A UTC is a building located in an urban setting, to provide convenience to the surrounding community to services rendered by key government and private sector, under one roof.

The government will collaborate with the private sector for the project, said its minister Tengku Datuk Sri Zafrul Abdul during the tabling of Budget 2021 in Parliament on Friday (Nov 6).

“Currently, there are 23 UTCs nationwide and the latest is the Penang UTC, which was opened last August.

“Considering the population density in the Klang Valley and the area around Petaling Jaya, the Government intends to build a UTC in Lembah Pantai, in collaboration with the private sector, ” he said.

Taman Gasing Indah Rukun Tetangga chairman Albert Koo welcomed the proposal. He said he had good experiences with the services offered during his visits to such centres.

“This is a very good proposal and would definitely benefit the people from the B40 and M40 income groups, especially in the Lembah Pantai area, ” said Koo.

“Accessibility to important government services is made easier and available to them, rather than having to travel to Shah Alam UTC or to the downtown Pudu UTC," he added.
