College offers online preview session for students

JOHOR BARU: School-leavers who are considering pre-university studies can attend an online preview session by Sunway College Johor Baru from the comfort of their homes.

The college will be conducting the preview online at 10am tomorrow and interested students can get more information or enquire about pre-university programmes offerred.

Head of pre-university studies, How Pei Lin said the two-hour session would kick off with an overview of the programmes offered, followed by an introduction to each programme in detail.

“The course introductions will be hosted by the respective academic coordinators for the Cambridge A-Levels, Australian Matriculation (Ausmat) and Foundation in Business programmes where participants will have the opportunity to clarify and enquire further.

“This is an excellent opportunity for students and parents to better understand the advantages and importance of a good pre-university education and also to find the right fit between student and programme for maximum outcome,” said How.

She explained that Cambridge A-Levels was the general certificate of education offered by Cambridge International and one of the most recognised qualifications globally.

“Its emphasis on knowledge, understanding, reasoning ability and skills have been accepted as proof of academic competence for entry into renowned universities worldwide,” she said.

She added that Ausmat was the Year 12 curriculum of Western Australia and also internationally recognised.

Western Australia’s School Curriculum and Standards Authority conducts yearly moderation to validate the assessment standards applied at Sunway College Johor Baru are consistent with that of providers in the Australian state, said How.

The college’s Foundation in Business programme, launched in 2019, was specially designed to support the development of fundamentals for students choosing to pursue a career in business or commerce, she said.

“Students will be introduced to a wide range of subjects to prepare them for undergraduate studies in sought-after business specialisations like accounting, finance, management or marketing, among others,” she said.

How said the classes for all three programmes would begin in early September, which would also be the last intake for the year. The next intake would be in 2021.
