JOHOR BARU: It was an unforgettable experience for mee rebus seller Rohana Jamiah when Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin visited her stall and helped her prepare the dish.
Rohana, 49, said she was nervous yet excited when told that he would be stopping by at her stall during his visit to the B5 Johor Street Market here.
“This was the first time I got to see him in person.
“I tried to be composed and to my surprise I was able to calm my nerves after all.
“He was friendly and put me at ease.
“I really enjoyed showing him how to make mee rebus,” she said when met during the Prime Minister’s visit here.
She said Muhyiddin spent a few minutes trying his hand at making a special mee rebus dish that included seafood and mushrooms.
“Besides tasting the prepared noodles, he helped to serve some of my customers as well,” she added.
Rohana, who has been making and selling mee rebus for the past 20 years, said she would remember the experience forever.
Earlier, the Prime Minister attended a meeting with civil servants in Johor Baru before heading over to Persada Johor International Convention Centre to celebrate National Youth Day.
At the B5 Johor Street Market, he visited several food stalls and those selling art and craft products. He also presented aid to traders under Skim Pemulihan Peniaga Tekun.
Also present was Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad, Johor state secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani and several state executive councillors.
