THE Lovely Disabled Home will for the first time hold a virtual “Run for A Chance 2020” charity run from Aug 31 to Sept 16,
The event is mainly to raise RM200,000 for next year’s expenditure and operations of the Lovely Disabled Home Workshop.
Expenses are for workshop members and tutors’ salaries, meals, trainings, utilities, repairs and maintenance.
The run also aims to raise awareness about disabilities and encourage persons with disability to step out of bounds and into society.
Lovely Disabled Home, founded in November 2015, is a non-profit platform for friends with disability to work and interact among themselves.
The home conducts occasional workshops, such as music class for members and training sessions for volunteers, to encourage the disabled to have an active lifestyle and socialise with able-bodied friends and family.
The charity run will also promote the home’s socks, which are exclusively packed and delivered by its disabled members.
Despite being affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, the home
wants to ensure that its operation continues so that disabled members will be able to sustain their livelihood.
Once they have registered, participants can start running anytime and anywhere within the specified period of the event.
Participants who complete a 3km run will receive a T-shirt and finisher medal after submitting the race result through the registration website.
The first 1,000 registrants will receive a pair of socks worth RM15 for free.
Registration, at a fee of RM50 (RM25 for the disabled) can be done via www.ticket2u.com.my/event/19291/
Closing date is Aug 30, while the deadline for race result submissions is before Sept 19.
Registration fees and donations will be channelled towards the home.
