After the successful organisation at Dewan Felda Kuala Lumpur, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, and the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur, the Legends Charity Dinner is now continuing its journey into the fifth series by returning to Sabah for the second time.
Scheduled to take place on November 6, 2026 (Friday), at 8pm at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Kota Kinabalu, this event is not just an entertainment night, but carries a greater mission of raising funds for the Malaysian Artists Welfare Fund to assist artists and industry practitioners in need.
The Legends Charity Dinner brings together big names from the local entertainment industry along with a lineup of new generation artists on a special stage. Among those who will be performing are Datuk Ramli Sarip, Datuk Zainal Abidin, Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim, Sa’adiah, Sabah starlet Bella Astillah, Velvet Aduk, Ayu Damit, and Hairee Kool, along with a special appearance by K.O.I, the winner of the 2026 Anugerah Juara Lagu.
Behind the glamour of the stage and the popularity of an artist, there are thousands of people who are also part of the journey of the arts industry, including musicians, songwriters, production crew, technicians, stage workers, managers, dancers, producers, and various other behind-the-scenes workers.
Some of them have dedicated a significant part of their lives to the world of art, but when faced with difficulties or unexpected situations, they also need support.
On that basis, the Legends Charity Dinner was created as one of the platforms to raise funds and give back to the Malaysian arts community.
According to Datuk Freddie Fernandez, President of Karyawan, efforts to support artists should be seen as a shared responsibility because the arts industry is built by so many individuals, not just those in front of the camera.
"The arts industry does not only consist of those on stage," he said. "Behind every performance, there are so many hard-working employees, from musicians, technical crew, writers, producers, production workers, to those behind the scenes.
"Through the Legends Charity Dinner, we want to harness the power of the entertainment industry to raise funds and help those in need. It is our collective responsibility to take care of those who have contributed to the development of the country's arts and entertainment."
He also welcomed the second organising of the event in Sabah, which is seen as an opportunity to strengthen ties with the art community in the state.
The selection of Sabah as the hosting location this time holds special significance as the Legends Charity Dinner returns to the state for the second time after the event in 2024.
In addition to bringing back the charity night concept to the people of Sabah, the 2026 edition also emphasises the contributions of artists and performers from Sabah, thereby paying tribute to the local talents who are part of the vibrant Malaysian arts industry.
The presence of a lineup of artists from various generations is also hoped to create an evening that is not only entertaining but also a space to celebrate the journey of art, friendship, and the spirit of togetherness in the industry.
The Legends Charity Dinner carries the message that popularity and success in the arts industry can be used for something more meaningful.
