A TOTAL of 1,850 residents, including foreigners, at Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion who have been put under the enhanced movement control order (MCO) will be provided with at least two meals a day, says Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
"Most of the tenants here do not cook and use the kitchen area as living quarters," he said.
He said some people have commented online that residents there who were foreigners should be the responsibility of their respective high commissions.
"However, there are still no clear contributions given to the residents despite the meetings that have been held with the high commissions.
"I do not want to see them suffer, so in the meantime food will be provided to them.
"I have also spoken to my deputy, Datuk Seri Dr Edmund R. Santhara, and we will seek help from NGOs in helping these residents," he said during a press conference live on Facebook on Thursday (April 9).
He also said on his Twitter account that "the food was sponsored by caring Malaysians".
The two flats are put under enhanced MCO after 15 Covid-19 cases were detected there.
