IN LIGHT of the global outbreak of coronavirus and to address the nationwide demand for face masks, Mr DIY is giving out 3.5 million face masks to its customers.

With more than 560 stores across Malaysia, the home improvement retailer aims to raise awareness of healthy practices to help curb the spread of illnesses.

Through its motto #mrdiycares, Mr DIY chairman Datuk Azlam Shah Alias announced the initiative at a press conference held at the Mid Valley Megamall store.

“By giving away face masks, we are doing our level best as a retailer to be part of the solution by providing Malaysians with alternative preventive measures against the spread of infectious diseases.

“We hope that this humble gesture by Mr DIY will be able to assist the public, especially our customers, to get face masks and take cautionary measures in a time of need, ” he added.

Also present at the event was Mr DIY marketing vice-president Andy Chin, who said the face masks were being distributed to all stores nationwide.

He also urged fellow Malaysians to be patient as a new batch would arrive in the country in two or three weeks’ time.

Asked about hand sanitisers, Chin said they were still not available but Mr DIY was in talks to provide them soon.

Azlam suggested that the public safeguard and prioritise their own health during this worrisome period as well as practice discipline by going to the doctor if there were symptoms of influenza-like illnesses.
