Panasonic Corporation has obtained halal certification for its alkaline ionizers, water purifiers, and replacement cartridges
for the Malaysian market, which guarantees that the certified items are safe for use by Muslim customers.
This is the first time that Japanese-made consumer electronics products obtained the certification from Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the Prime Minister’s Department.
In line with continuing economic growth, Malaysians are becoming more health conscious and concerned about water, which is essential for our daily lives.
The water purifier market, too, is growing.
Panasonic has provided safe drinking water through the sale of water purifiers and alkaline ionizers, which generate alkaline ionized water by electrolysing purified water.
Local sales company Panasonic Malaysia has now obtained the certification from Jakim as a business operator, and the certification mark will be affixed to equipment destined for the Malaysian market that are manufactured at Panasonic’s Hikone plant in Shiga prefecture east of Kyoto, Japan, as well as by its cooperative companies.
The certification ensures that Muslim consumers can drink water from the water purifier with greater sense of security.
