A three-metre stretch of road near First Avenue junction in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya has collapsed due to a burst pipe.
Employees at a nearby office tower were seen gathered at the lobby for 15 minutes because their electric supply had been cut due to fear of a possible power trip.
"We came down because there was a power cut.
"We went back up shortly. We couldn't see the burst pipe but the sunken road is visible," said an office worker who did not want to be named.
When StarMetro arrived at the scene, the caved-in part of the road had been cordoned off.
Petaling Jaya City Council enforcement officers could be seen controlling traffic.
There were no traffic congestion at the location at the time.
The burst pipe was visible from a hotel basement parking. Water could seen gushing into a nearby drain.
A spokesman from Air Selangor said the repair works were underway and that a statement would be issued soon.
