LOCAL beauty brand Lip & Co stepped up its game by collaborating with former Miss World Malaysia Thanuja Ananthan to come out with 200 sets of limited edition Cruelty-free Kisses lip kits.

There are two lip kits in the collection and each comes with a Lip & Co Lip Topper and Ulti-Matte Liquid Lip Cream, curated to flatter almost all skin tones.

The Lip Topper, also a luminiser infused with Mood Pigment Technology, can be used on its own or smeared on top of a lip colour.

It contains holographic particles to enhance your pout by creating a subtle iridescent effect and is said to react with the unique chemistry of the lips, to leave a long-lasting flush of tint.

The Ulti-Matte Liquid Lip Cream is a highly pigmented liquid lipstick that glides on creamy but mattifies into a beautiful bold colour.

It is infused with raspberry seed, sunflower seed oil, vitamin E and shea butter to boost hydration and nourish the lips.

Thanuja, who has been Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) ambassador for seven years, said she was introduced to the brand by a friend and it caught her attention that all Lip & Co’s products were cruelty-free.

“Proceeds from the sale of these exclusive lip kits will be channelled to our ‘furry friends’ at SPCA Malaysia.

Proceeds from the sale of the limited edition lip kits will be channelled to SPCA Malaysia.

“This collaboration serves to raise awareness of cruelty towards stray animals.

“I always stress that one should adopt, don’t shop. There are so many stray animals out there, be it at the alleys or restaurants, waiting for some kind soul to offer them proper shelter and food,” she said.

Thanuja, who often sneaked out at night to rescue stray animals when she was younger, said SPCA had come out with Stray Free Selangor, a compassionate stray control programme.

SPCA Selangor chairman Christine Chin said years ago, the fine for cruelty towards animals was only RM200.

“Now, under The Animal Welfare Act 2015, those who are found guilty of animal abuse will be slapped with fines between RM20,000 and RM100,000, a maximum jail term of three years, or both.”

Lip & Co founder Kelvin Tan said all Lip & Co’s products were cruelty-free.

“Our brand is locally founded, but the products are manufactured in a few countries, including France, the US, Taiwan and South Korea,” he added.

Each set is available for pre-order at RM129 from Lip & Co’s website (

The kits are sold at Lip & Co physical stores Play Up Advance in Fahrenheit 88 Bukit Bintang and Berjaya Times Square.
