A TOTAL of 400 delegates from around the world are expected to attend the Business Events industry conference called BE @ Penang 2018 at Setia SPICE Arena in Bayan Lepas on Dec 6 and 7.
Organised by Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB), the conference, which is in its third series will host 20 international and local speakers from the industry.
PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekaran said the event this year is themed, ‘Be Exceptional: Breaking Barriers, Conquering Mountains’.
“The conference is open to meetingplanners, destination management companies, professional conferenceorganisers, suppliers and business event owners and buyers,” he told reporters at a recent press conference in Komtar.
State Tourism Development, Heritage, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, who was also present said business conventions were essential to Penang’s economy, generating over RM1bil of economic impact last year.
“Last year, we hosted 2,511 events and 267,518 delegates with an estimatedeconomic impact of RM1.02bil.
“With PCEB’s continuous effort in both developing and educating the business events industry, Penang is making headlines in the global business events scene and is now known to be an important second-tier destination,” he said.
Registration to attend the conference is still open.
Registration fee is RM500 for the first delegate and RM400 for subsequent delegates who are PCEB’s industry planners and members of the Malaysian Association of Hotels.
Non-member registration fee is RM600 for the first delegate and RM500 for subsequent delegates.
