RESIDENTS staying in Mount Erskine will soon enjoy the Congestion Alleviation Transport (CAT) free bus shuttle service as an alternative mode of transportation.
Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee said the CAT Mount Erskine loop, which is phase two of the CAT Tanjong Tokong, is scheduled to start around mid-June.
“We are now working on the route together with former assemblyman Yap Soo Huey and also Rapid Penang.
“I am working closely with Yap because she knows a lot about the frequency of the rides and other related matters. Her input is important, so that the service would have the maximum effect,” he told a press conference in Komtar on Thursday.
Lee said the current Pulau Tikus loop which was started by Yap would be retained.
The route covers Jalan Kelawei (in front of Gurney Plaza), Jalan Tanjung Tokong, Jalan Fettes, Jalan Mt Erskine, Jalan Burmah, Jalan Pangkor before ending in Jalan Kelawei (in front of Gurney Paragon Mall).
“We will later identify the interchange between the two loops, so that residents can travel more conveniently,” he said.
Lee apologised for the temporary disruption of the Pulau Tikus loop from Wednesday to 2pm on Thursday.
“It was because we were moving the existing Pulau Tikus loop shuttle service to the new agreement under the CAT Tanjong Tokong programme,” he explained.
