PEOPLE’s Alternative Party (PAP) Selangor branch chairman Harry Arul Raj Krishnan, 40, who is contesting the Sungai Pelek state seat, kick-started his campaign by organising a football tournament to introduce himself and his party.

The electrical and electronics engineering diploma holder, who owns a money transfer agency, was nearly mistaken as an independent candidate as he showed up on nomination day with only two flags and a handful of supporters, a stark contrast to candidates from major political parties.

Harry said PAP was approved by the Registrar of Societies three years ago and there were currently 60 members in Sungai Pelek. Harry became chairman of the Selangor branch three months ago.

Announcing his party manifesto, Harry said the five objectives included resolving the issue of birth certificates and identity cards for the stateless and launching crime prevention programmes. — By GRACE CHEN
