Air Selangor exceeds target in reduction of non-revenue water rate

SINCE the takeover of Selangor water services industry in Oct 2015, the Selangor government, through Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor), has undertaken many initiatives to reduce non-revenue water (NRW), which is treated water that is “lost” before it reaches customers.

At the end of 2015, the NRW rate stood at 32.6%. Air Selangor targeted to reduce this rate to 31% by end of 2017. Through various concerted efforts by Air Selangor, the NRW rate was successfully reduced to 30.1% by end 2017, exceeding the target that was set two years ago.
