PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd (PDB) announced it has closed “The only game where everybody wins” campaign now instead of in February, as scheduled, after all six million vouchers on offer were snapped up ahead of time.

According to PDB managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus, Petronas had intended for the campaign, which was launched in December, to last until February.

“However, the campaign, which offered six million vouchers, was met with such overwhelming response from customers that all six million voucher have already been taken up.”

Ibrahimnuddin said the company understood that the vouchers running out at petrol stations had caused disappointment among customers.

“We are deeply sorry for the inconveniences caused. It was not our intention to mislead our customers in any way, especially to make them lose trust in us,” explained Ibrahimnuddin, adding that the campaign had a simple goal of rewarding consumers.

“When we started this campaign, we wanted to make it as easy as possible so that everyone can walk away from our stations with a reward, in line with the campaign theme of 'The Only Game Where Everybody Wins'.

“The participation mechanics were extremely easy. Customers only needed to fill up a minimum of RM20 fuel or purchase any promotional items at the Kedai Mesra,” he explained.

“It was so simple and exciting that the vouchers ran out earlier than expected,” he said.

To express gratitude for the campaign immense support and loyal patronage of its consumers, PDB is throwing in a bonus, offering 6x Mesra points to customers who make purchases at any Petronas station and Kedai Mesra, from Jan 6 to Jan 12.

“This is the highest point Petronas has ever given, and we hope customers appreciate the gesture,” Ibrahimnuddin said.

The Everybody Wins campaign gave away various prizes, including such cash rewards totalling RM5,000, RM1,000 and RM500, mobile phones and year-long supplies of shoes by Zalora.

Other giveaways include discount vouchers from campaign partners such as Zalora, Lazada, DiGi, Starbucks, and McDonald’s.
