Spotlight on beauty contestants

One woman among 18 finalists will be crowned Miss Universe Malaysia on Jan 24, 2018 at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The winner will have the opportunity of a lifetime to travel abroad, representing Malaysia at the Miss Universe 2018 pageant finals. In addition to cash and sponsored prizes, she will win a full scholarship from HELP University. For the next several weeks leading up to the finals, get to know the contestants as they share with StarMetro a little bit about themselves.

Alexis SueAnn (Selangor)

ALEXIS fuels her work with passion as she lives by the motto, “Choose a job you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”

Standing at 171cm, the YouTuber and television host is confident, vocal and dabbles in television, radio and event hosting. She dreams of opening a daycare centre for pets someday.

One of her proudest moments was scaling Mount Kinabalu to help raise more than RM50,000 for the National Cancer Society of Malaysia.

She also wants to raise awareness about cyberbullying and start campaigns in schools to educate the younger generation.

Through sheer willpower and determination, Alexis hopes to win the Miss Universe Malaysia title.

IN CHASING her dreams of becoming a successful model, Asha hopes to start her own modelling and beauty academy to groom young talent.

Describing herself as confident and ambitious, the 169cm-tall dental student enjoys dancing to Bollywood tunes during her free time and learning to play the dhol, an Indian drum.

Currently a freelance model, she hopes to try her hand at television hosting.

Asha was once a finalist in a local beauty pageant and in school, she was a top scorer and track athlete in the 1,500m and 3,000m events.

The young woman can speak English, Bahasa Malaysia, Tamil and Punjabi.

The journey of the 18 finalists will be captured and shown over 20 webisodes in a reality show series on online lifestyle channel www.hurr.tv starting December 2017. Viewers can also catch the seven-episode on Diva, available exclusively on Astro Channel 702 and Diva HD Astro Channel 723.
