NUSAJAYA: The state government aims to engage with the public through talks and dialogue at the upcoming Ekspo Johor Berkemajuan 2017, in addition to showcasing its development projects.
Johor housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Md Jais Sarday said there would be sessions with officers who would be taking questions from the public.
“I will also be having dialogues for people to ask questions about the agencies under my portfolio.
“I have directed my officers to organise talks involving our agencies everyday,” he said after a visit to Kota Iskandar to inspect the preparations for the expo which was expected to attract 500,000 people.
Jais added that people could also find out about affordable homes and where the future development areas would take place.
“This will be the state’s largest event with 105 booths and over 200,000 sq ft of exhibition and event space,” he said, adding that the nine-day show would include performances, exhibitions and mass wedding ceremonies.
Jais added that special carparks would be set up, including around Legoland and Puteri Habour, where there will be shuttle services for the public to get to the event.
He hoped they would come and see for themselves the state’s performance and projects since 2013.
“They can even view all our KPI, including that of the state executive councillors and even the Mentri Besar,” Jais added.
He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would launch the event on Oct 7 while his deputy would close it on Oct 14.
The expo will focus on three main clusters to spur Johor’s position as Malaysia’s new economic powerhouse – the state government’s short and long-term plans, a cluster involving the state’s 10 districts and another on Johor’s aspiration.
