The government should take the lead and hold more awareness campaigns to encourage the public to do away with single-use plastic bags.

PERAK Environment Committee chairman Dr Abdul Aziz Bari had, during an interview with StarMetro last month, said the people here were not “culturally” ready to do away with single-use plastic material.

What he said is the ugly truth as people would just ask for the plastic bags when buying goods at supermarkets here.
