His name may not be instantly familiar, but a who’s who of the fusion scene listed on his glittering CV instantly suggests Mokhtar Samba, the drummer/percussionist of Senegalese (father) and Moroccan (mother) descent, to be a journeyman who’s paid his dues. Carlos Santana, Joe Zawinul, Jaco Pastorious, Jean Luc Ponty, Youssou N’Dour ... these are merely some of the musicians the France-based musician has kept a groove with.
