The highly-anticipated Club Med Borneo in Sabah is finally ready to accept bookings ... soon.
Located along the coast in Sabah's Interior Division, the resort is currently being built in the Kuala Penyu District; it is scheduled to open in November this year. Bookings, meanwhile, will officially open on March 24.
There are plenty of room types to choose from three main categories: Superior, Deluxe and Exclusive Collection Space. You'd have to wait until March 24 to see what the price range is. Complimentary upgrades are also possible upon booking (terms and conditions apply.
Meanwhile, a range of activities will be available, like pickleball, padel and tennis, stand-up paddle, nature excursions, yoga and other fun stuff that are synonymous with the ClubMed brand.
In a press release, Stephane Maquaire, president and CEO of Club Med, said: "The opening of Club Med Borneo represents a significant milestone in our global expansion strategy ... Club Med Borneo is a testament to our commitment to growth in South-East Asia and our dedication to creating destinations that balance premium luxury with environmental stewardship."
As the brand's second Malaysian property (Club Med Cherating in Pahang has been around since 1979), Club Med Borneo is set to be the company's first large-scale, sustainably built BREEAM-certified beach resort in Asia Pacific. Spanning 17ha, it is a milestone collaboration between Club Med and Golden Sands Beach Resort City..
With architecture inspired by traditional Rungus longhouses, among other things, the resort has 400 guest rooms, a few pools, a "Splash Park" for families, three F&B outlets (The Alam, The Laut and The Pasir), Kids' Club facilities and more.
Excursions, meanwhile, include a trip to the award-winning Mari-Mari Cultural Village in Inanam, a city tour, and a snorkelling experience at Pulau Tiga.
Kuala Penyu is about two hours from the state capital, Kota Kinabalu.

In other news, the Grand Royal Riverside Hue – Fusion Collection opened on March 14 in central Vietnam's Hue City.
Set on the southern bank of the Huong River, adjacent to the iconic Truong Tien Bridge, the hotel features a prime riverside location within Vietnam’s former imperial capital.

Grand Royal Riverside Hue blends cultural heritage with contemporary hospitality, with guest experiences rooted in history. After all, Hue is internationally recognised for its historic monuments, scenic river landscapes and enduring cultural significance.
The hotel has 161 guestrooms, with architecture inspired by the Huong River. Interiors are layered with natural wood and locally inspired materials, softened by jade-toned hues that evoke calm and balance.
F&B options include the Jade & Ginger Restaurant, and The Amber Lounge, while the spa is caled Sa Spa & Wellness with four treatment rooms.
Meanwhile, in Japan, one of the newest hotel openings is the 1 Hotel Tokyo, from the luxury lifestyle brand 1 Hotels. This is the brand's first property in Japan.
1 Hotel Tokyo is set high within the Akasaka Trust Tower, offering sweeping views of the Imperial Palace gardens, Tokyo Tower, and the city skyline. The property is the result of a collaboration between 1 Hotels and Mori Trust, one of Japan’s leading real estate developers, and anchors Tokyo World Gate Akasaka, a next-generation mixed-use hub.
From Akasaka, iconic neighborhoods such as Ginza, Roppongi, and Shibuya are easily accessible.
The property features 211 rooms, including 24 suites and three executive penthouses; the hotel takes up the 38th through 43rd floors of the Akasaka Trust Tower.
