Put your video editing skills to the test for a chance to win a trip to Japan.

Organised by the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) Kuala Lumpur, the video contest #AJapanForYou2024 invites Malaysians to create Instagram reels showcasing five “Joyful Japan” moments from their previous travels to the Land Of The Rising Sun.

But don’t worry, the contest is also open to those who have not visited the country. All you need is a little creativity and imagination to help you create a winning video clip, which has to be between 30 seconds and three minutes long.

Each entry should include on-screen text overlays or voice narration to convey the participant’s travel style, for instance, “We’re seekers of bold adventures” or “I love history”.

To participate, contestants must fill up a Google form on the campaign page and include the link to their Instagram reel in the form.

You also need to use three hashtags (#AJapanForYou2024, #CreateMyJoyful Japan and #klookmy) in the caption of their post. Your Instagram account has to be set to public, too.

Content from these major areas: Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa, Kyoto and Osaka prefectures may not be included in the video. Instead, you would have to highlight lesser-known spots outside of these prefectures. This competition is meant to cultivate a spirit of discovery and connection with Japan, according to JNTO.

Ten winners will be chosen, though only two will win the grand prize of a pair of economy flight tickets to Japan. Other prizes include Klook vouchers and merchandise from JNTO.

You can start submitting your application from now until Jan 8, 2025.

For details, head to the JNTO website.
