Do you like Daniel Craig's new look? His style shows how menswear has changed

The idea of men appearing in boring shirts and suits is a thing of the past. These days, menswear is a lot more fun and quirky.

A very good example is how brands are dressing Daniel Craig. The actor looks totally different from his days of playing James Bond.

While he would often be seen wearing dark colours and classic tailored clothing in the past, he now dons bright colours, loud patterns and loose separates.

In Loewe’s current season campaign, Craig rocks cardigans, vests and sweaters. The designs are as dandy as they come.

His style is just as changed on the red carpet. Even if he wears a tuxedo, it will be a loose one – less secret agent, and more fashion model.

This about turn in male aesthetic is evident in other male celebrities too.

Actor Callum Turner appeared in promotional visuals wearing a tan getup and carrying a pink (the brand calls the colour sakura) bag. They were shot to accompany the announcement of him being made ambassador for Louis Vuitton.

GQ quoted Turner describing the outfit as something he would wear not only for “going out”, but also “for every day”.

“His clothes are incredible, (and) the collection is fresh and cool and exciting,” he said, talking about Louis Vuitton menswear creative director Pharrell Williams, who also has an unconventional sense of style.

Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton recently released a capsule collection with Dior.

As ambassador for the fashion house, he worked with Dior’s menswear artistic director Kim Jones to conceptualise a very cool streetwear range.

“Focusing on conscious choices and pushing boundaries with each piece, while merging inspiration from my roots in Africa – drawing from their fabrics and belief in natural materials, as well as vibrant colours and powerful energy – has been so inspiring,” read Hamilton’s press statement.

The idea of men dressing up to catch attention should not be something out of the ordinary.

There is even the term that exists – “peacocking”, which means a social behaviour in which a male uses ostentatious clothing to attract a female and to stand out from other competing males.

You could say that currently the man who is completely killing it when it comes to turning heads at events is Colman Domingo. The actor is usually seen in brightly coloured outerwear and dripping with jewellery.

He has the personality to go with such ensembles too – a cool swagger that shouts to the world that he wants to be seen.

Case in point: All eyes were on Domingo when he walked the Balmain Autumn/Winter 2024 fashion week runway.

Fellow actor Timothee Chalamet has long been revered for his daring way of dressing. He has been seen in jumpsuits, hoodies, backless tops and more.

It really shows that men are changing – or rather, the way they approach their dressing is no longer fettered by conventional expectations.
