Black can be common sometimes. Pastels are pretty, but they whisper oh-so gently. And neutrals? They’re like the still water of the colour world.

You want to know what’s sizzling hot now? Neons! Vibrant tones are the rock stars of the spectrum; the life and soul of the colour party.

If your wardrobe seems dull and uninspiring, electric hues are what you need to inject it with some fun and personality. Be warned though that such striking shades are not for the timid.

Hot hues are for the bold, brave and those who want to step into the spotlight with a burst of dazzling colour.

From Alexander McQueen’s pre-Autumn/Winter 2023 collection comes a striking masterpiece – a trouser suit in vivid psychedelic pink, featuring a slightly exposed waist for some flash of flesh.

Kate Spade’s Autumn 2023 collection offers an array of all-things bright. Satin outfits in signature Kate Spade green and fire engine red, suits in orange and faux fur in zesty lemon – all make for great talking points.

There’s also a chartreuse coat and a sequinned acid green garment, both guaranteed to chase the autumn chill and command attention.

For an outfit that demands a single, standout element, check out Tom Ford’s bomber jacket in shimmering purple. This versatile, zippered piece can be paired with almost any attire, from T-shirts to dresses, effortlessly infusing your look with brilliant colour and fashionable flair.

German fashion designer Philipp Plein, known for his over-the-top designs, presents a striking concept in his pre-Fall 2023 collection – a complete ensemble drenched in orange.

The pieces include a puffer jacket, pants and a pleated top, all enhanced with a paisley print reminiscent of the patterns seen on bikers’ favoured bandanas.

Plein extends the theme with matching footwear and a tote bag that harmoniously complete the fancy ensemble.

At the recent Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2023 (KLFW), the limelight fell on Romyda_KL’s collection, featuring fabulous fashion choices like palazzo pants, short jackets and tops in fuchsia, as well as laser-cut dresses and jackets in fluorescent green.

Styled By Peter Lum’s collection showcased at KLFW also dazzled the eyes, with bold and eye-catching pieces such as a hot pink blouse paired with orange pants, a sunshine yellow top worn with lime green skirt, and a bright blue dress punctuated by some yellow.

The colour palette used in these creations practically shouts, “I’m ready to shine!”, showcasing a statement of optimism and individuality.

What a great way to celebrate the power of colour while embracing confidence and self-expression.
