Rado’s Captain Cook timepieces are beautiful designs indeed. So, it is only fitting that they get an ambassador worthy of their looks.

The watchmaker recently appointed popular South Korean actor and singer, Ji Chang-wook, as face of its campaigns.

According to Rado, he will be wearing the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton.

Ji is considered to be a household name in South Korea and beyond. Although his acting career already began when he was 20 years old, real fame arrived when he played a Korean-American speed skater in 2010’s wildly popular television series Smile Again.

He has since gone on to play a wide variety of contemporary and historical characters.

Ji appeared in Warrior Baek Dong-soo (2011), Empress Ki (2013–2014), Healer (2014–2015), The K2 (2016), Suspicious Partner (2017), Melting Me Softly (2019), Backstreet Rookie (2020), Lovestruck In The City (2020-2021), The Sound Of Magic (2022), and If You Wish Upon Me (2022).

That said, he has nevertheless managed to appear frequently in musicals and music videos, and has recorded a number of OSTs (original sound tracks).

“I have always been interested in Swiss watches, especially in unique designs and special materials, and I’m very happy to star in my new role as brand ambassador for Rado,” Ji comments in the press release.

“The Captain Cook is such a beautiful watch, I look forward to wearing it whenever I can.”

Rado’s Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton carries the motto “The Art of Skeletonisation”.

Inside is the new Rado automatic R808 skeleton movement with smart new geometry and components shaded in different tones. Equipped with an anti-magnetic Nivachron hairspring, the precise mechanical movement can also be admired from the back through a transparent sapphire crystal.

The Captain Cook collection gets its name from 18th century explorer Captain James Cook. The first model was released way back in 1962, but remains to be a favourite with many different models released over the years.

Ji joins the global family of Rado brand ambassadors – actors, sports personalities and television stars from around the world.

All of them have a passion for breaking new ground, inspiring audiences everywhere to “feel it”, just as the brand does – with every watch it creates.
