Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh’s star power has never been brighter. She was just recently named “Icon Of The Year 2022” by Time magazine, a nod to her rising influence in Hollywood.

The Ipoh-born actress is also predicted to be among those in the running for an upcoming Oscar nomination for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Yet, we are also seeing the Malaysian star solidifying her presence in the fashion scene.

For the Schiaparelli couture presentation, she chose a demurely chic suit. Photos: Instagram/Michelle YeohFor the Schiaparelli couture presentation, she chose a demurely chic suit. Photos: Instagram/Michelle YeohYeoh is no stranger to dressing up for the red carpet, of course, but she was spotted attending several runway shows this year.

At Paris Fashion Week in July, she drew eyes with her gorgeous outfits.

She sat front row at the Balenciaga couture presentation. She wore an all-black ensemble comprising a ribbon top and skirt.

Other A-list guests included the likes of Naomi Campbell, Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman and Dua Lipa – all dressed to the nines in Balenciaga too.

At the Schiaparelli couture show, she donned a champagne-coloured suit. It was all sorts of chic.

In January, she attended the Elie Saab couture runway show. Again, she wore a suit.

Yeoh was also a guest at the 2022 Met Gala. Bear in mind, this is an event known as “fashion’s biggest night out”.

She looked resplendent in an off-shoulder Prabal Gurung dress with a long train – while glittering in diamonds. For the 2nd Annual Academy Museum Gala event in October, Yeoh was perfection in black lace.

Over the years, the 60-year-old beauty has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry, with appearances in films such as Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (2021), Crazy Rich Asians (2018), Memoirs Of A Geisha (2005), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), and more.

Also, don’t forget that she was once a Bond girl, appearing in Tomorrow Never Dies back in 1997.

Just this week, Yeoh was announced to have landed a key role in the upcoming Wicked films adaptation.

At the Oscars in 2019, the former Miss Malaysia Universe wore a metallic Elie Saab gown. That was after Crazy Rich Asians caught the attention of the world with its sumptuous fashion parade of costumes.

Yeoh was seen at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in the same year wearing another Elie Saab design.

She had a Richard Mille timepiece on her wrist for that particular red carpet appearance, which brings us to her brand ambassadorship role.

Yeoh has been a long-time face of luxury watchmaker Richard Mille. She even collaborated with the brand to create two jewellery watches specifically for women, the RM 051 and RM 51-01 Tourbillon.

In 2016, she was appointed a goodwill ambassador for UNDP (United Nations Develop-ment Programme). In this role, she spoke up about the need for sustainable fashion.

“If I have to go out, I wear a really great shirt and baggy trousers or jeans. On the red carpet, I see that as playtime and a time to meet the fans,” Yeoh was quoted as saying by Elle magazine in October.

“They queue for hours; they stand there in the rain and are cold and wet. They don’t dream about seeing you messy, and walking away from the trailer to set with hair curlers and a big bathrobe. You have to give them the fantasy.”
