There is a belief that fashion has a problem with people ageing. Yet, we have seen more and more how celebrities of a certain era are still able to make an impact in the industry.
Just look at the recent fashion weeks. Jeff Goldblum, 69, certainly proved that he could be as cool as any young guy when he attended the Prada menswear show in June.
Dressed in the label, he was mobbed for selfies at the event.
If you think then that there is a stigma against older women, while men get away with it – how about Nicole Kidman, who appeared on the runway for the Balenciaga couture presentation last week?
She turned 55 this year, but still manages to look amazing wearing the fashion house’s tin-foil dress with a long train.

What’s more amazing is Moore modelled the designs herself. She is the face of the campaign.

The 59-year-old star did however admit to getting help from her daughters, telling Vogue: “They keep me aware of what’s appealing to a different generation.”
Cate Blanchett, 53, was just announced as the ambassador for Louis Vuitton. She appears in a campaign for the luxury label’s latest high jewellery collection.
It has to be said that Blanchett is an icon when it comes to red-carpet dressing. She is always seen pushing boundaries and embracing age-defying looks for her appearances.
When Jennifer Lopez walked the Versace runway in 2019, the news went viral. She was 50 years old at the time.
Lopez closed the Spring/Summer 2020 show, flaunting a replica of the iconic palm print dress she wore for the 2000 Grammy Awards. She was given a standing ovation for boldly strutting her stuff.
Aigner’s upcoming Autumn/Winter 2022 collection will feature supermodel Kate Moss as the face. Last year, she appeared in a Coach campaign.
Moss, currently 48, is considered one of the most influential supermodels – especially at the height of her fame in the 1990s.

Also worth mentioning is Tracee Ellis Ross, who fronted J Crew’s Autumn/Winter campaign in 2021. The same year, she was appointed ambassador for Tiffany & Co.
“I’m the sexiest I’ve ever been. And when I say that, I mean I feel the most myself,” Ross, now 49, told Harper’s Bazaar back in November.
“It’s as if you get to this age and ... they’re going to cart me off in a canoe into no-man’s-land,” she added. “Shut up. I’m going to be sexy all over the place.”
Now, how’s that for age being a factor in fashion?
As these celebrities have showed, it is definitely more about confidence and the way you feel about yourself.
