Chinese celebrity Xiao Zhan grows his influence with latest fashion appointment

The man has fronted campaigns for timepieces, beverages, home products and more. His endorsements for fashion brands however, are the ones that is causing a buzz.

When news of Xiao Zhan's appointment by Gucci as its ambassador broke, fans went wild. Social media users have been posting images of their purchases from the fashion house as a show of pride and support.

The singer and actor definitely has an incredible fanbase in China. His 29.6 million followers on Weibo can often quickly cause hashtags about him to trend.

Twitter users have posted on how they went on shopping sprees at Gucci after they found out about his latest appointment. There are claims that people are even wearing Tod’s and Zenith products while shopping at the stores too.

Xiao Zhan, 30, is currently also the face of the two other brands, making him a triple threat when it comes to fashion ambassadorship. His star power is so immense that when he was announced as the face of Zenith, the brand's watches reportedly sold out.

He now joins fellow Chinese celebrities the likes of Li Yuchun, Ni Ni and Lu Han as part of the Gucci family. Xiao Zhan made his debut in the entertainment world as a member of Chinese boy band X Nine in 2016.

He then catapulted to superstardom three year after when he starred in television drama The Untamed. His other appearances include Douluo Continent (2021), The Wolf (2020) and Joy Of Life (2019).

He has won a number of awards and nominations for his television roles.Xiao Zhan's single Made To Love was released at the end of April 2020. With a sales volume of 25.48 million, it set the Guinness World Record for the fastest-selling digital album within 24 hours.

Last year, there was a controversy started online involving his fanbase. It led to an online war of sorts and pressured companies to drop him as an ambassador.

He has however, bounced back from the incident and is now stronger than ever in terms of being able to direct influence. Naturally, brands are again trying to cash out on his fame and capture the market that is his ever loyal fans.
