Singer-songwriter Frank Ocean has announced the launch of his own independent luxury brand, Homer, which focuses on fine jewellery and accessories.

Intentionally nostalgic, the first collection is inspired by his "childhood obsessions" with quirky and colourful patterns and characters, which can only be purchased – for now at least – in the new label's New York boutique.

While the latest trend sees celebrities launching their own cosmetics lines, it is the world of fine jewellery that seems to be most of interest to Ocean.

The musician has provided a first glimpse of his brand of his (very) high-end jewellery, as well as a selection of scarves.

No ready-to-wear items for the moment, but these few accessories show that the label could soon find a place in some of the most on-trend fashionistas' wardrobes.

It is through a virtual catalog, presented in an understated manner on the website of the brand Homer, that we discover the retro-styled pieces of this very first collection of fine jewellery.

All handmade in Italy and designed in New York, the jewellery is inspired by Ocean's childhood and features bright colours and characters that sometimes seem straight out of manga.

The jewellery is made from 18k gold, recycled sterling silver, hand-painted enamel, and lab-grown diamonds.

While some of the jewellery can be seen online, you have to go to the brand's only New York store, located in lower Manhattan, to buy it. All you have to do is make an appointment online, with the option of booking 15-minute slots.

In terms of prices, if we trust Homer's virtual catalog, we should count on spending 435 dollars for the most accessible pendant, around US$1,695 (RM7,174) for "double sphere" earrings, US$16,515 (RM69,900) for a gold bracelet, and US$471,900 (RM2mil) for a gold necklace set with a multitude of diamonds of different colours.

Silk scarves are priced between 230 and 460 dollars (RM973-1,947).
