Detox (short for detoxification, where a person attempts to cleanse their body of toxins) is a huge trend right now. Lots of celebrities and famous personalities have been practicing the lifestyle habit.
Not to mention, the pandemic has shown us how our general health and wellness should absolutely take number one priority.
In timely fashion, Kinohimitsu Malaysia has launched its Detox Day 2021 campaign. This is in partnership with Chinese-language radio station 988, under Star Media Group Berhad. It will run until Aug 31.
The campaign is aimed at encouraging Malaysians to take up detox, as well as educate the public on the benefits. It also seeks to better instruct those who are less experienced with detox on making safe decisions.
According to Kinohimitsu chief operating officer Jennifer Chin, people these days are getting more health conscious. They want to learn how to stay healthy, and she feels detox is like the first step in the right direction.
“All of us are now more aware of how the environment around us can affect our health,” she adds. “Like for me, it’s no longer like my childhood days. Back then, I would say we eat food that come from more natural sources and the air is cleaner.”
“With the Detox Day, Kinohimitsu wants to remind people about living a healthy lifestyle. We believe in the philosophy of ‘detox, balance and nourish’. So we need to first cleanse our body before it can effectively absorb the nutrients taken in.”
With everyone now staying indoors more than ever, detox has also become something extremely relevant. It is seen as one way to help boost our immune system, especially since we are not going out to exercise.
“Right now, people can’t go out to jog, take a brisk walk or hike. So we sweat less. We even have less sun exposure, which can cause our bodies to produce a reduced level of Vitamin D,” notes Chin.
Kinohimitsu’s general manager of sales, Winnie Pok, says that a lot of different activities are planned for the Detox Day campaign. They include talks by nutritionists, online yoga classes and much more.
The full programme can be found on the brand’s Facebook page.
There will also be additional interviews aired on 988 to share in-depth information, like benefits and the general importance, as well as things to expect when going on a detox.
“What I can say is that people should feel more refreshed and energetic after undergoing a detox. In long term however, they can witness their complexion clearing up – or maybe their breath smelling better,” Pok comments.
Chin says that detox can benefit different organs of the body. Cleansing the gut for example, or the way it can help improve the health of the liver.
“Even our minds can benefit from detox!” she points out. “That is why we have included yoga classes into the programme. Yoga is one of the ways to detox our minds.”
She does however say that you don’t need to have an apparent problem before turning to detox.
“You don’t only go on a detox when you have visible acne and want to clear it, for example. Detox in itself will offer underlying health benefits for everyone.”
On choosing the right health products for detox, a person needs to know what they want to achieve. There are a wide range to choose from, depending on whether to you are looking for a liver, gut or colon detox.
It is also advisable to choose the right brands. Kinohimitsu uses all-natural ingredients for its detox products, doing away with things like laxatives, preservatives, colouring or flavouring.
The comprehensive range includes the likes of the Kinohimitsu D’tox Plum Juice, Kinohimitsu Phytox and Kinohimitsu Foot Patch.
Whether there is a right time to start a detox or not, Pok says it is a matter of “now better than never”. Detox to her, is a continuous journey.
She advises first timers to try out a six-day detox programme such as Kinohimitsu D’tox Plum Juice which can flush out toxins from your bowel within just 2-4 hours, without disrupting your daily life.
This is 100% natural juice. Containing absolutely no additives, and high concentrations of dietary fibre which increases the beneficial cultures in the digestive track and helps to fortify your body’s defences. Just drink one bottle a day for six days – it is as simple as that.
Sharing her personal detox experience, Chin says that she started when she was feeling stressed. She now does detox regularly.
“I didn’t feel stressed at that time but I noticed other effects like dull skin,” she shares. “After practising detox, my skin improved. I’ve even gotten compliments on my complexion and that I look younger than my age.”
To stay safe while practising detox, the rule of thumb is to stick with trusted brands. Pok says Kinohimitsu is committed to the quality of its products, which have gone through stringent tests and come with the proper certifications.
Of course, it goes without saying that everyone should absolutely avoid purchasing detox products from unknown brands via online platforms as they can just be harmful to your health.
