As more women embrace watch-wearing as a style choice, both horology and fashion brands are stepping up their game in the world of ladies’ timepieces.

Today, there’s a wider range of timepiece options, for those who appreciate the technicality of a movement, those with an eye for aesthetics, and everyone in between.

Dynamic design

Presented in precious materials with a mesmerising Jump Hour movement module, the Gucci Grip collection takes inspiration from the world of skateboarding, its name recalling the way the rider’s sneakers stick to the grip tape on a skateboard.

The yellow gold PVD face has three windows to display the hour, minute and date, completed with a matching bracelet with engraved Interlocking Gs.

Dazzling debut

Fashion house Elie Saab recently began its foray into the world of fine watches, partnering with Blackbox Global Luxury Group (GLG) to produce these exquisite pieces.

The line of 28 ladies’ styles take inspiration from the feminine yet forward style of the fashion brand’s haute couture collections and combine to encapsulate a beautifully bold spirit.

The line is spearheaded by Eayan – a family of five unique watches featuring an eye-shaped face and spiked embellishment. The protective symbol “represents a divine, watchful gaze”.

Casual chic

Seiko’s Presage Sharp Edged GMT collection offers a gorgeous combination of sophistication and casualness with its dynamic, angular lines.

Available in four dial variants, they are inspired by the colours used in traditional Japanese crafts namely Aitetsu (indigo, SPB217), Tokiwa (green, SPB219), Sumi-iro (black, SPB221) and Hihada-iro (brown, SPB225).

The dial pattern features a classic Japanese hemp leaf motif called Asanoha, which has been used in Japanese textile and architecture for over a thousand years.

High artisanal quality

Louis Vuitton’s new Tambour Street Diver is a timepiece that encompasses multi-functionality, creative ingenuity and the freedom of expression.

It made its debut in 2002, and over two decades its iconic design has adapted throughout the years, yet remains timeless. Crafted from a single block of metal and larger at the base than at the top, the unique shape of the Tambour was inspired by a drum.

This year, this iconic watch has been reimagined in the form of the Tambour Street Diver, bringing the brand into the realm of high-end sports watchmaking with a timepiece designed for everyday use.

Robust and edgy with a decidedly sporty outlook, this watch brings together all the requirements of a traditional dive watch while retaining colourful, creative and unconventional style elements.

Striking hues

Zenith’s Defy 21 Spectrum series incorporates striking colours everywhere but the dial. Whether it’s the coloured chronograph movements achieved through innovative pigmentation processes or the natural brilliance of precious stones, the collection is a whole new take on vivid, kinetic vibrancy.

At the core of this striking and highly exclusive collection is the El Primero 21, the fastest chronograph in production and the only one to accurately and legibly measure and display 1/100th of a second time measurements.

Named Spectrum after the range of colours produced by the different wavelengths of visible light, the collection consists of five models that take on different frequencies of visible light.

Each version is entirely embellished with 288 brilliant-cut white diamonds, featuring a bezel set with 44 baguette-cut precious stones. Their movements match their rubber straps: green tsavorites for the green edition, orange sapphires for the orange edition, blue sapphires for the blue edition, amethyst for the purple edition, and black spinels for the black edition.

Contemporary classics

A classic timepiece, Versace’s Greca Glass Watch showcases the Greca pattern on both the black dial and champagne-colour round case.

The Medusa and Versace logos sit at 12 o’clock, and the elegant aesthetic of the watch is further explored in the lustrous champagne band.

Depicted in a captivating campaign, this watch and other new pieces from the Spring-Summer 2021 campaign are featured with a golden hourglass against a cool, underwater-toned backdrop.

The watches, a fusion of contemporary technology and timeless design, play and interact with the sculptural symbol of time.
