The menswear trends for Spring/Summer 2022 are bold, brash and seemingly eclectic. They are seen as energising even, if you want to consider how the fashion industry is trying its hardest to reinvigorate interest among consumers.

Toe-baring footwear reigns supreme with the design being seen in a lot of the different collections. You may think the trend has a connection with the pandemic and the need for comfort – but no, it is more a throwback to past eras.

Sliders for example, were huge in the 1990s. They have made a comeback in the past years and are not going anywhere soon. JW Anderson’s release features standout pairs that are sure to brighten up any outfit.

If you believe that sunglasses have gone out of fashion due to the lockdowns, you are mistaken. They have just evolved. Lightly tinted ones are in fashion now, as they won’t necessarily “blind” you indoors.

Ferrari equipped its models with sunnies for the presentation. The accessory complemented the Spring/Summer 2022 season’s largely unisex ready-to-wear, which naturally, included sporty designs.

Funky sweaters are also a big hit for the season. They appear as bright, colourful and a little whacky. The kind of designs that would make you go: “Really?”. The longer you stare though, the pieces become more attractive.

Loewe’s have an insouciantly kitsch feel to them. Psychedelic even, if you focus on the contrasting shades. Bright neon pink and apple green colourways denote a more “street” vibe – something that labels are going for these days.

As for bags, men are projected to carry more daring designs. At least, that is what the designers are hoping. Gone are the days of black and brown briefcases or dark-hued messenger bags.

Fendi borrowed from the girls, with its Spring/Summer 2022 collection of men bags. Pastel colours were used extensively. The designs have also somehow shrunk, with sizes becoming smaller in comparison to the past.
