Grammy-winning DJ Diplo has brought an extra edge to a recognisable footwear. A latest collaboration sees him giving his own take to Crocs designs.

The classic clog comes with a red, yellow and blue 3D mushroom charm that matches the yellow, pink and green swirls painted over a blue base.

The new classic crocs sandal, which had yet to undergo a collaboration makeover until now, is decorated with blue and orange paint swirls over a yellow base, in addition to a glow-in-the-dark jibbitz shaped like a mushroom.

"I wear my Crocs literally everywhere so I'm stoked to have some with my name on them and that others can get them, too," Diplo said in a statement.

"Crocs helped me bring my adventures to life with these designs and the three-dimensional, light-up and glow-in-the-dark mushroom Jibbitz charms are cooler than I could've imagined. Now fans can take a walk with me in either the classic clog or crocs classic sandal."

Diplo promoted the collaboration prior to its launch. during a live Twitch stream with Mad Decent, in which he gave away 1,000 pairs to listeners.

As it was expected to sell out fast, the buying process proved to be different than usual. Shoppers were assigned a random spot in line, and when it's their turn, they were given 10 minutes to make their purchase.

Crocs has found great success in the past teaming up with high-profile musicians and fashion brands for hyped-up limited-edition collections.

The footwear brand has partnered with notable Crocs lover Post Malone for five collections since 2018, and has partnered with Justin Bieber and his fashion label Drew House two times in the past year.

Crocs also released special edition glow-in-the dark clogs last September with Bad Bunny. But the most elusive Croc is the pink, Chanel-studded number from Nicki Minaj. – Anna Tingley/Reuters
