Fluidity, rhythm, space and light define Louis Vuitton’s new jewellery collection, LV Volt.
Created by Louis Vuitton’s artistic director for watches and jewellery, Francesca Amfitheatrof, the collection transcends both borders and genders with 36 decidedly unisex pieces.
The new LV Volt fine jewellery collection puts the spotlight on the capital L and V letters with its renowned craftsmanship on display through an expert play of precise, sharp lines and soft, smooth contours.
Iconic initials which are a metaphor for movement, an allegory for momentum, an apologia for the essential and a symbol of speed, they form an architectural design whose lines become a unit of measurement in a universal language.
In the first chapter which is a chic and subtle range, the L and V are authentically showcased in their pure form, with lines cutting through space and creating angles within.
With gold and diamonds complementing each other in brilliant plays of light, the two capital letters come together, split apart, gather, fall away, contrast, blend, stack up, interact and complete each other.
Through their fluid movement, they bring to life a scene of symbols exploring light, space and rhythm through their unexpected yet inextricable resources.
In the second chapter, which is more intricate, L and V become chain links of myriad textures, volumes, finishes and dimensions.
Here, the initials emerge as prismatic figures, presenting themselves as tubular structures.
The collection comes to an end with an escape from the abstract, as the two letters turn into claws to be stacked on fingers and flow onto bandanas as embroidery in motion.
On each piece of jewellery, Louis Vuitton’s craftsmanship gives way to a conversation between precise, clean lines and soft, smooth contours.
Overlaying the graphic power of the leitmotif and the bold statement of manifesto, barring no combinations, this decidedly unisex collection draws on the House’s cherished abstract art forms to find its energy, drum its tempo, establish its cadence and refresh its beat.
Earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings are featured in clear lines within five themes: LV Volt Curb Chain; LV Volt Mesh; LV Volt Multi; LV Volt One; and LV Volt Upside Down.
A campaign celebrating artistry
The print and digital campaign for Volt brought together a collection of diverse talents from several creative industries and shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
Featuring four talents - Oscar-winning actress and Louis Vuitton brand ambassador Alicia Vikander; principal dancer at the Paris Opera Ballet Hugo Marchand; painter and artist Sharon Alexie; and model XiaoXing Mao.
Completely embodying the collection’s concept of rhythm, movement, and energy, the four talents convey the collection’s bold metaphor for movement wearing exquisite and eye-catching pieces from the LV Volt collection.
