‘Rosie the Riveter’ poster girl dies at 96

American Naomi Parker Fraley, who inspired the iconic World War II-era “Rosie the Riveter” poster that later became an enduring feminist symbol, has died. She was 96 years old.

The wartime propaganda poster in punchy primary colours shows a young woman in blue coveralls and a red-and-white polka dot bandana, her sleeve rolled past her elbow to show off her bicep under the slogan “We Can Do It!“
