IN 1997, Thomas Foo led a 4x4 expedition to Ethiopia under the auspices of the Foreign Ministry. At that time, Ethiopia and Eritrea were at war. The two nations in the Horn of Africa had been fighting over a long strip of land that borders the Red Sea. On both sides of the border were armed forces.
