Art You Can Live With

Harvey Norman’s limited-edition Lakaran Malaysia range combines contemporary Malaysian art with functional furniture.

A home should tell a story, but rarely does furniture speak as loudly as the art on the walls.

In its first-of-a-kind collaboration with Toko Art Gallery, Harvey Norman Malaysia has launched the Lakaran Malaysia range, a limited edition collection that turns everyday furniture into a canvas for local heritage.

Featuring the work of contemporary artist Najib Ahmad Bamadhaj, the collection allows the modern homeowner to curate their living spaces with functional pieces that double as collectable art.

Serenity in design

Najib’s collection, titled The Promised Garden, draws inspiration from nature.

The designs feature the blue butterfly as a central symbolic element. Representing hope, renewal and transformation, the motif is intended to bring a sense of positivity and serenity into the home.

Homeowners can choose between two aesthetic moods - The Promised Garden I or The Promised Garden II - and apply these to a selection of furniture.

This includes a three-seater sofa and cabinet in either design, alongside exclusive pieces such as the daybed and the armchair and stool.

Whether it is a solitary accent chair or a complete suite, these pieces add a gallery-like statement to the modern home.

The armchair in The Promised Garden II highlights the collection’s signature blue butterfly motif, creating a calming retreat in the home.

Furniture that tells a story

Having served Malaysians for more than 20 years, Harvey Norman recognises that local tastes evolve. Modern homeowners are looking beyond pure functionality; they are seeking to create spaces that reflect their culture and identity.

Lakaran Malaysia is driven by this shift. This collaboration champions Malaysian artists while bringing elements of cultural heritage into the home.

To ensure the artwork's uniqueness and rarity, Lakaran Malaysia is released in limited quantities. Each piece comes with an official certificate of authenticity, validating it as a genuine piece for collectors and making it an interesting conversation starter.

Designed for real life

Often, statement furniture feels too precious to use. The Lakaran Malaysia range bridges that gap between high art and functionality.

It is upholstered in a specialised, easy-clean, pet-friendly fabric, designed to withstand the rigours of family life.

This ensures homeowners don’t have to worry about owning a beautiful piece of furniture that serves only as art.

Underneath the artistic upholstery, each piece is built on a sturdy, solid wood frame. Backed by Harvey Norman’s 10-year warranty, these unique pieces are built for durability and comfort, giving homeowners peace of mind.

The buffet cabinet, upholstered in Promised Garden I, features warm hues and stands out as a striking centrepiece in any dining or living area.
