The Toy Box is an occasional online exclusive column where we take a look at the latest in toys and collectibles out there.

If you're looking for some collectibles and toys to keep the kids (and yourself) occupied during CNY, here are some options.

Hot Wheels CNY Porsche

Hot Wheels powers into the Year of the Horse with a Chinese New Year limited-edition Silver Series die-cast, created in collaboration with Porsche and modelled after the iconic Porsche 935.

This premium 1:64-scale collector’s release brings together auspicious CNY symbolism, car culture heritage, and signature Hot Wheels performance.

Designed by Anton Henggono, this Asia-Pacific exclusive die-cast features a striking deep red base with gold accents, white-and-gold galloping horse iconography, and expressive calligraphic strokes inspired by traditional CNY motifs.

The die-cast is presented on a specially designed blister card, lit with fireworks, glowing lanterns, pagoda skyline, and iconic red-and-gold detailing, completing the festive storytelling from car to packaging.

This release celebrates Hot Wheels’ continued collaboration with the car culture community and Porsche, reimagining a legendary performance silhouette through a cultural and celebratory lens, making it a true collector’s piece built for celebration, culture, and speed.

The Hot Wheels Lunar New Year Silver Series die-cast is now available at selected toy specialty and department stores, convenience stores, and petrol marts nationwide.

Lego CNY sets

Lego debuted its first CNY sets 8 years ago, and since then, they have become some of the most highly-anticipated sets of the year, especially in this part of the world.

This year, the toy company has come up with two major playsets, including one of its most dynamic CNY sets yet – the Spring Festival Galloping Horse Canvas.

Centred on a powerful horse motif and a canvas with a printed brush painting, the set blends traditional Chinese aesthetics with Lego bricks, bringing to life the traditional blessing of “success upon arrival”.

But this more than just a display piece – there is a fun play feature built into it in the form of a turn handle that makes the horses move as if they are galloping out of the painting.

Every Lego CNY collection has featured one that has minifigures celebrating the festival, and this time around, it's the Spring Festival Fortune Firecracker set.

The set recreates a classic firecracker design, and incorporates several interactive features that reveal celebratory scenes and evoke the familiar crackling sounds of the season.

With the press of a button, the display switches between two celebration scenes: a Spring Festival firework display, and a scene with people welcoming the God of Fortune.

You can place also bricks inside the firecracker to make a “crackling” noise when moved.

Another new and festive set is the 386-piece Fortune Master, a cute recreation of the CNY icon.

The collectible model is dressed in traditional red and gold clothing, surrounded by symbols of good luck, including gold coins and red envelopes.

From now until Feb 22, you can visit the Lego 'Gallop Into Playful Horizons' event at LG2 Blue Concourse, Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Visitors will receive a mission card and embark on a playful journey through an oriental-inspired Lego Chinese garden, where they can explore and complete four engaging activity stations.

Upon completion of these activity stations, children below 12 years old will receive an exclusive Lego Make and Take Horse, while adults will receive a special Lego voucher.
