Labour Day and the unexpected announcement of Hari Raya celebrations last week caused many to reschedule plans in terms of food preparation to usher in the three-day festive celebration which coincided with a public holiday and long weekend.
Some of the migrant workers employed in my condo faced a situation where they could not purchase a cylinder of gas while they were rushing to prepare a small feast for their fellow colleagues. These were the same four Muslim cleaners who were responsible for the maintenance of the various facilities of our two blocks of 17-storey condo units.
