Winter sports enthusiasts can mark a new spot on the map: In Sweden’s mountainous Dalarna region, the ski resort of Salen is getting its own airport, set to welcome its first passengers on Dec 22.

Beyond the fact that it connects travellers around the world to the Salen, Idre and Klappen ski regions, as well as the Norwegian Trysil area across the border, the best thing about Trysil Airport is how you get around once you’re there.
