Starchild: Malaysian children show their love for pizza with their art

Putri Nurbatrisya Balqis Hasmawi, 10

Do you know that children between the ages of three and 11 prefer pizza above all other food for lunch or dinner?

Here’s another bit of trivia: over three billion pizzas are sold worldwide each year! Yes, pizza is certainly a favourite all over the world.

The word pizza dates back over a thousand years. It was documented in a Latin text from 997 AD.

Pizza comes in a variety of flavours with a wide range of toppings, and even different types of crusts. These days, there is no limit to the flavours you can add to this Italian staple. In Japan, popular pizza toppings include squid and mayonnaise. Some Malaysian restaurants serve sambal, cili padi and rendang flavoured pizza!

What are some of your favourite pizza flavours and toppings?

Let’s hear what Starchild readers had to say on the topic, For Pizza Lovers.

Chia Yee Fern, nine, writes: “My favourite pizza toppings are the classic chicken pepperoni and crab sticks because they go very well with a tomato-based pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese. My family seldom orders pizzas. Instead, we make our own at home. My sister and I can put as many toppings as we like.”
