Zahara Jolie-Pitt, the eldest daughter of exes Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is following in the footsteps of her siblings and looking to legally drop her estranged dad’s surname from her own.
So long as no one objects to the bid by the 21-year-old newly minted college graduate, who filed last month to legally go by Zahara Marley Jolie, a judge can approve the move during a Sept 28 hearing, TMZ reports.
First, Zahara — who’s already informally dropped the Pitt — had to publish notice of her petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal for four consecutive weeks, which ended July 7. The notices, in accordance with California legislation, alerted those against the name change to submit a written opposition ahead of said hearing.
Zahara’s 20-year-old sister Shiloh, the exes’ eldest biological child, filed to remove Pitt’s name from hers upon turning 18 in May 2024. By that point, both eldest sibling Maddox and Zahara — both adopted by Jolie in the early 2000s, and later by Pitt — had also stopped using Pitt as part of their moniker, as had Vivienne, one of Jolie and Pitt’s biological twins.
Maddox, 24, formally filed to drop Pitt from his last name in late May 2026 and, if approved, will go by Maddox Chivan Jolie, per Us Weekly at the time.
A Pitt insider told TMZ his circle believes Jolie, 51, is behind the tensions with the 62-year-old F1 star and their children.
The Pitt-Jolie divorce was a contentious one that settled in late 2024, after eight long years. The Oscar winners — who also share 22-year-old adoptive son Pax as well as Vivienne’s fraternal twin brother Knox, 17 — remain locked in a legal battle over their French winery. – New York Daily News/TNS
